Building a personal operating system requires strict boundary separation between public showcases and private workspace modules. In this article, we walk through setting up a workspace using Next.js 15, Turborepo, and shared package caching.
Monorepo Layout
We isolate our shared type declarations and configurations from execution layers to ensure fast build caching:
├── apps/
│ ├── web/ # Next.js frontend (BuildWithPNJ & Warborn OS)
│ └── api/ # FastAPI backend
├── packages/
│ └── shared-types/
By keeping shared packages separate, compiler iterations only re-evaluate elements with active dependency modifications.
